A Slow Motion Bullet Makes for a Great Slow Motion Scene

Special effects such as the slow motion bullet is an awesome way to really get the crowd going. I'll never forget the scene in The Matrix where Neo is dodging the bullets and it shows everything in slow motion including the shock waves that the bullet is making. I have to admit that I don't know if that scene could have been made any better. The Matrix is the classic slow motion scene action movie that I can think of off the top of my head, not only the bullets but in the fight scenes also.

Another one that is around 15 years old at this point and involves some slow motion scenes without bullets is in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves when robin hood shoots the arrow at the target and splits the arrow of the person who shot at the target before him. If memory serves me correctly there were also some slow motion scenes where robin hood was doing the impossible shot of the arrow and somehow by the magic of movies became reality.

How about the slow motion scenes in Lord of the Rings, when the battles came to the climax and the good guys were about to win the battle.

It's always been fun to watch how special effects have gotten better and more sophisticated over the years.
