How do movie ratings affect us?

Movie ratings tell parents and children alike what may be appropriate or not. Action movies can be kid and family friendly or they can be for adults only (don't let your kids watch). In respect of this one should consider the rating of a movie. Thats usually the first thing that my wife and I say when the kids want to watch a movie we're not sure about. "Whats it rated?"

CARA reviews films submitted and then rate them based on the content of the film (violence, sex, drugs, language, adult activities, etc.) that parents may deem inapproriate for their children.
